Leyman Wayne Fleming was born 12 Aug 1910 in Fannin Co., TX and died 14 Feb 1969 Tarrant Co., TX. Leyman was the youngest son of Walter Henry Fleming and Minnie Bell Johnson.
Leyman married Mattie Jean Scearce, daughter of William Louis Scearce and Martha Tola Penn, on 08 Jun 1933 in Bryan Co., OK. They had no children.
A graduate of Southeastern State Teachers College in Durant, OK, Leyman taught in the North Texas area before entering the Navy during World War II. Mattie Jean was also a teacher.
Leyman entered professional Scouting in 1946 and served the Longhorn Council Boy Scouts of America "faithfully and well". For 21 years, he built a glowing record of service to the Scouting program.

Leyman served as District Scout Executive for the Denton-Wise Co., District (later known as Chisholm Trail District), as well as the Arrowhead, Cross Timbers, and Thunderbird districts of the Longhorn Council. He personally recruited and helped countless numbers of Scouts in the Longhorn Council.
Leyman W. Fleming earned the highly coveted Region Nine, Boy Scouts of America, Top Hands award for twelve years. When he retired in 1967, a tribute was dedicated to him at Camp Leonard. The March 29, 1969 issue of The Tool Chest, a Boy Scout newsletter stated: "Boy Scout--And good friend to us all. He was a priceless experience in the lives of many. This was a man with a mission in life. He was blessed with a bottomless well of goodness."
Leyman and Mattie are buried in West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, TX.
